Why do you compare on price, policy benefits and service ratings?

We recognise that different people require different kinds of insurance policies and that the cheapest quote may not be the best quote for many. Our comparison service also takes into account the policy benefits offered by the insurer as well as an independent service rating, allowing you to make the most informed choice.

How do you work out the service ratings for each insurer?

Our service ratings are based on independent online research involving people who have had, or previously held, a policy with any of the motor insurers on our panel. This is conducted by an independent company - Research Now.

During the research we ask the people interviewed to rate the levels of service received from their current or previous insurer from 1 to 5. Each featured insurer has been rated by a minimum of 50 people.

We will update the service rating information at least once every 3 months, to ensure you are receiving the most up-to-date information possible and so you can make the most informed choice of insurance policy for you.

Car Insurance premiums are based on personal circumstances such as your age, type of vehicle, driving history, previous claims / convictions and where you keep your car. Here are some tips on how you may be able save a bit more:

  • Increase the security of your car by fitting an alarm, immobiliser or tracking device
  • Increase the voluntary excess - the amount you contribute in the event of a claim - as this usually brings down the premium
  • Parking your car in a garage overnight could lower your premium
  • Reducing your annual mileage could bring your premium down, be as accurate as you can about the miles you cover in an average year.
  • Additional courses, as some insurers offer discounts to people that have taken courses such as Pass Plus or an advanced driver course.

How can I lower my motorbike insurance?

  • Keep your bike in a bricked garage or lock up
  • If you've got more than one bike choose a specialist offering multi-bike policies
